Jesus gave us the command to go into the whole world and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). Most Christians can quote these verses, and know this is our primary task as a church. But how is this accomplished and what does a disciple look like?

In order to accomplish this commission, Life Connection Church, has adopted a simple church growth strategy. A simple church model takes the mission of the church and turns it into a process. Simply, our purpose and process is connecting people to God, each other and the world. We connect people to God through Worship (Sunday Morning Service), each other through fellowship (Celebrate Recovery and Connect groups), and the world through service (ministries: ushering, prayer ministries, outreach ministries, neighboring, etc.).

What does it really mean to be a disciple? At LCC, a disciple is encouraged to spend time weekly connecting with God, His people, and His world. This priority influences one’s daily life with Jesus and ultimately transforms a person into His likeness. Making time count is important in a hurried world, and by spending purposeful time each week we will have more time to spend with our families, and evangelizing the world; our primary place of discipleship is in the home, and the harvest field for souls is beyond the four walls of the church.

History

In July 1978, Life Connection Church (Evangel Temple Assembly of God) held its first service under the pavilion at the original Old Settler’s Park off of 620 and I-35; fifteen people attended this service.

In 1979 land was purchased off CR 1460, and the ground breaking took place on May 23, 1979.  By 1985, the church out grew these facilities and purchased 5 acres of property and a metal building on CR 113, its present location (3109 E. Old Settlers Blvd).  The building was converted into a sanctuary, and in 1986 the church constructed a two-story educational building.  In the fall, Evangel Temple Christian School was open for classes.

Over these many years the church has had four pastors.  Pastors Jim and Sylvia Patterson were elected in 2002; over the years the church has increased in unity, outreach, numerically, and financially.  Our church has recently adopted a simple church growth strategy.  Life Connection Church’s purpose/process is connecting people to God, each other, and the world (see purpose/process).

Life Connection Church is in the heart of the east sector of the city where the growth of our city is taking place.  We feel with our steady history and our growth strategy, we are poised for future growth.

Salvation through the blood of Christ

The doctrine of Salvation forms the core of our Christian faith by proclaiming God’s victory over sin in our lives. This truth results in deliverances, healings and restored lives. Whether a new member or a mature Christian, every believer should have a clear understanding of salvation and the difference this truth makes in our lives and churches. 

“Are there ever really any second chances in life? Surprisingly, the answer is yes. The Bible calls it Salvation. Salvation is God’s second chance for every one of us.”

Baptism in the Holy Spirit for the power of serving

The doctrine of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is our distinctive. This truth explains the passion and power of our witness. Jesus promised His followers they would receive power from on high so that they would be His witnesses. We believe this truth is just as relevant today as our Fellowship continues to take the gospel message around the globe.

Devine healing through the atoning blood of Christ

Wherever Jesus went, He ministered with compassion and healed the sick. Christ’s example showed an interconnection with salvation as many believed following their healing.

Our Lord continues to heal today and it is vital that the church preach, teach and practice this biblical truth. Scriptures command believers to pray in faith and trust God for the outcome.
